It is beautiful here today, almost Fall like, with warm sunshine and cool air. I would venture to guess that many here in Greenville County are out enjoying this weather, strolling through Downtown Greenville, and visiting the many wonderful parks. I know I would love to be doing that, but we have chosen to take advantage of this weather, opening up the windows and back doors leading out to the screened-in porch, and doing Fall cleaning in preparation for Amy's first day of school.
I have cleaned out one of the far corners of the family room to make room for her desk. But before we can move her desk in here, I have to clean up the laundry room, where the desk sits at the moment and is in use as a catch-all. That was the intended purpose of the desk to begin with, before her decision to leave public school, because it just fit so perfectly in the laundry room and the drawers were really useful as junk drawers that one would normally have in their kitchen. It also came in handy for Amy when she would be using her pottery wheel. But, alas, as with all things, purposes do change, and the desk will now be used strictly for Amy's needs and will no longer be used in a catch-all, junk drawer capacity!
That leads us to the question of "Where will Amy now do her pottery?" Easily answered! Though probably not easily done! lol
The garage is a perfect area for Amy's arts & crafts space. Moving things, however, to set up an area for her will be a daunting task! But it needs to be done! There is a desk out there already that our oldest daughter used as her arts & crafts desk, but I don't really like where it sits. I think the space is too small for all Amy will need it for. The space I would prefer, though, is in use by Eric. My biggest challenge will be in convincing him to move all his stuff to the other side of the garage! Then again there is a decent area on the other side that could work well for her, too, but he also has some stuff on that side that would need to be moved. Hmmm. Either way, he has some cleaning, and moving, to do out there. But I see it as a win-win for me because no matter where her art area gets set up, I will end up with a clean garage!
And then there is the kitchen. It just needs to be reorganized to make it more conducive to Amy's learning experience. She loves to bake, but she hasn't done any baking from scratch. Learning to cook, and bake, from scratch is on the agenda as it will incorporate most, if not all, of her core subjects, as well as being a fun experience for her... And me. And she will learn skills that will last a lifetime and be very useful to her.
Aside from all that, we still have the general household chores that need to be done (vacuuming, laundry, etc). Those are being done as we go along, so no real big deal!
Well, I have finished my coffee, so I reckon that is my cue to go get busy!
Have a great day!
Until Next Time.....
